Since its launch in 1995, Lumiere has become one of the most popular online publications. As it is an online fashion and style magazine, half of Lumiere's viewers are women. The editor of the magazine is Stephen Todd who is a veteran fashion writer. Writers, editors and photographers from other publications like Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Elle also contribute to Lumiere.

It is the first Internet publication to be acknowledged by the Chambre Syndicale, the governing body of French fashion. Lumiere currently focuses on the different aspects of photography and the subjects are complex.
