Its All About The Fashion

Fashion Shows

Fashion shows started as a platform for designers to display their collection using live models on a ramp.
Earlier fashion shows were solely meant for trade purposes. But today they are entertainment events receiving wide media coverage. Unlike early designers who used mannequins to show their latest garments to clients, fashion shows allow a wider audience to view the entire collection of the designer including, clothes, accessories and jewelry.
Fashion critics, photographers, reporters, celebrities and elite business people are invited to watch a live fashion show. At times passes are sold to members of the public. A live performance by well-known musicians also takes place in some shows.

Celebrity guests are also invited to walk the ramp with top models. In the end, the designer appears before the audience, accompanied by a model, bowing gracefully to show his appreciation. Fashion councils or institutes of several countries organize a fashion week where students from fashion design schools are allowed to partcipate.

The world's fashion capitals - Paris, London, Milan and New York, also host fashion weeks.

In recent years, the Lakme India Fashion Week has paved the way for Indian designers to gain recognition world wide for creating high quality apparel using rich materials.
