Patrick Demarchelier

At the age of 17, Patrick Demarchelier knew he wanted to be a photographer. After struggling in the early years, in the late sixties, one of his photographs was published by Elle magazine, which had earlier rejected him. He developed a personal style, which was casual and realistic with playful qualities.

His photography was such that it stood out in any location. He is known for creating images that are fluid and at the same time immersed in nature. Patrick Demarchelier's work has been published in magazines such as the American, British, French and Italian editions of Vogue, in Mademoiselle, Glamour, Premier, Life and Rolling Stone.



He was also the first non-Britain to photograph the Royal family, after Princess Diana asked him to portray her.
Patrick has also contributed to major international advertising campaigns for brands such as Chanel, Calvin Klein, Revlon and Lancome, The Gap, Gianni Versace, Giorgio Armani and Elizabeth Arden he has also taken pictures for the album covers of records by Janet Jackson, Billy Joel, Madonna and Quincy Jones.

Patrick Demarchelier has also photographs some famous Hollywood stars like Hilary Swank, Leonardo Dicaprio, Nicole Kidman, Anthony Hopkins and Tom Cruise.
