Steven Meisel is a highly talented American fashion photographer, who shoots pictures for covers of U.S and Italian Vogue.

He met with instant success after the pictures he shot for Madonna's book SEX, where highly praised in 1992. Meisel went on to shoot campaigns for Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Versace. Meisel's sophisticated fashion photos have a tendency to provoke - perhaps simply because they exude a worrying undertone even when they are so blatantly about fashion.

He studied at the Parson School of Design in New York and majored in fashion illustration.

Though he worked as a fashion illustrator, Meisel's fascination for models from an early age perhaps led him to choose fashion photography as a career. Meisel currently works for many different fashion magazines and is given credit for discovering and promoting the careers of several supermodels, one of them being Linda Evangelista. He has also held several exhibitions showcasing his work in Europe and USA.
