Perfumes give a pleasant smell to the human body. When they sweat, humans give out a body odor.

Perfumes help to control the smell of this body odor. Both men and women apply perfumes. Perfumes are made from scented oils, aromatic compounds and chemical solvents.
Designer perfumes are more expensive than any other brand of perfume. The technique of making perfume evolved in ancient Egypt and was further developed by the Romans and Arabs.

The first form of perfume was incense and this is still used in religious ceremonies. In Egypt scented oils were used excessively. However the Greeks are given credit for making the first liquid perfume.

The common scents are floral, oriental, citrus, chypre, green and fougere. These are available as deodorants, sprays, eau de toilettes and eau de colognes. The eau de colognes is the most expensive as its alcohol content is higher than the others.

Many celebrities are now creating their signature scents. These include Celine by Celine Dion; True Star by Beyoncé Knowles; JLO Glow by Jennifer Lopez and Curious by Britney Spears. Even Indian film stars like Amitabh Bachan and Sharukh Khan have launched their signature perfumes.
